Young Thom's been keen as beans to get this into the surf and being of solution orientated thinking came up with a viable plan, the other day.
The photo is of Thomas Coffey selling homemade Lemonade at home, and business was good. Over the summer he earned most of what he needed towards the new grommy soft, surfboard, which he's loving. The trip to the Mount to get this board was a highlight of his summer and he'd been saving hard for it. He's been out in the waves heaps and is loving it and standing up. A lesson is next on the list and would do him good now, and there's more swimming lessons coming up at the School this term.
Thom and his Mum, started collecting and juicing lemons over some months and in the peak of Christmas Mum was busy in the background keeping cold lemonade supplied.
Thom had an awesome day hanging around the ocal surfing competition and Thom soaked it all up around the familiar locals and young grommy's - so look out next year.
Along with Thom’s, entries have been flowing in thick and fast for the surfboard giveaway on Surfcheck.co.nz . Entry is free an open to all. With the promotion running through until Queens birthday. SurfCheck is a valuable link portal, this means that there is no need for many surfing websites to be stored in your favorites, on your computer. From here you can click through to Surf2surf, Surf.co, and Surf cams BOP for all your reports and camera angles around New Zealand as well as, Coastal Watch for Australian updates and Wave Watch for the States and Hawaii’s surf cams and reports. Keeping up to date with the contest scene is a breeze also as handy links are available for The Bay Board-riders Club, Surfing New Zealand for the National level events and profiles. And the latest on the ASP World Qualifying Series and the Foster World Pro Tour.

The World Junior Surfing Championships is an annual event having been held since 2003. New Zealand has competed at the event since its inception as well as competing at the World Grommet Titles as it was formerly known since 1989. New Zealand has been one of the top nations at each event with Jay Quinn (Gis) securing New Zealand ’s first World Championship in the Under 18 Men’s division in 2001. In 2007 the New Zealand team placed fourth at the event with the best results coming from Matt Hewitt who placed third in the under 16 boys and Paige Hareb who placed fourth in the under 18 girls.
Congrats to the Bay locals who we will again watch and support while the NZ team is away….
